All’s been quiet on the Garmin front for a while now and we just found out why: the company was getting ready for a major announcement.

The Garmin Marq smartwatch line is brand new for the brand and obviously aimed towards bigger budgets.

Actually, as the company says, the Garmin Marq Collection is “destined for those who aspire to the lifestyles we have redefined over decades of innovation.”

Now let’s see what that means.

There are five new Garmin smartwatches in the collection, each one destined for a different type of wearer and activity: the Athlete, Expedition, Captain, Aviator, and Driver.

All of them are constructed with premium materials, sporting titanium casings with sapphire crystal lenses that can handle a lot of abuse before getting scratched. The ruggedness factor is also enhanced by a ceramic bezel inlay, so don’t worry about bumping the Garmin MARQ, it can handle it.

All of the new watches are also compatible with the QuickFit system, so you can switch from a strap to a band and change up the smartwatch for casual or fashionable outfits.

What about the software?

Just like the Garmin Fenix, the MARQ offers up to 12 hours in smartwatch mode, 28 hours for GPS and 48 hours in energy-saver mode.

The MARQ Aviator has aviator maps, airport codes and weather information.

The Driver model brings more than 250 race tracks from around the world, which challenge the user to calculate their average spead.

The MARQ Expedition and Athlete are the ones most focused on physical activity. While the Expedition brings topographic maps and real-time climb information, the Athlete provides recovery time and valuable biometrics information.

Lastly, the Captain is the luxury smartwatch for boat pilots. It not only features a regatta timer but also has coastal charts and shows current weather conditions.

With so many features and premium materials like titanium and Italian leather, it’s no wonder the Garmin MARQ line starts at $1500 and goes up to $2500!

The line will be available in the second quarter of this year. Until then, you can admire each model on the official website.
