Gmail turns 15 today (no this is not an April Fool’s prank), and to celebrate, Google has unveiled several new features to its email platform in a blog post.
One long awaited feature just announced is the scheduled email feature. By simply clicking on the “more options” button next to the “send” button on mobile devices, you can schedule to send the email at a customizable date and time.
Additionally, Gmail is letting you interact with your emails in a whole new way. Several actions can now be done within email rather than leaving to go to a dedicated app or website. According to the blog, “you can respond to a comment thread in Google Docs, browse hotel recommendations, and more, directly within emails.”
Finally, Smart Compose is getting an update. Using AI, Smart Compose will be better at suggesting things based on your preferences and styles of talking. It can now suggest a subject based on the content of your email and fill in words in more languages (Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese). Currently, it is available on Pixel and Android phones, but iOS compatibility is coming soon.
Celebrating its 15th birthday, Gmail has brought us plenty of surprises that are sure to improve the quality of our email experience!
