If you have a Wear OS watch that belongs to a newer generation, you will soon receive a software update which will change a lot of what’s happening when you swipe across the interface.

Aside from that, Google is also adding a new information feed via Google Assistant, faster access to Google Fit and a new view of the notifications.

The new system does not have any battery life enhancements though, and this has been an issue plaguing the industry since the inception of smartwatches. What it does have is a whole bunch of other things.

It will show you relevant info about your day such as the weather, calendar details or package-tracking info.

The notifications work almost the same way as before, except Google made the display be more information-dense, meaning you will see them on one single pane you can scroll through instead of them filling your screen one by one.

The GoogleFit interface also comes with some improvements: it hosts two rings that track your health. One is ‘move minutes’ while the other is ‘heart points’.

The last change you will notice is the Quick Settings pane, which has two added buttons: one of them helps you find your phone while another assists you with Google Pay. This second button will make sure the chip is on and ready to pay when you are approaching a sale terminal.

Qualcomm has a smartwatch-focused event set for the 10th of September, around the same time Google wants to roll out the Wear OS, so perhaps we will get some goods news next month concerning battery life as well.
