Google is nothing if not observant of the digital trends. One of those is to create more and more content for Instagram and TikTok. So, the search engine giant is thinking of offering users a way to refine search results by adding Instagram and TikTok videos filters.
The feature would surface such short-form video results in their own carousel, easily visible on mobile.
When a user tried to access a short video in the carousel, they would be directed to the desktop version of the video platform hosting the clip, be it Instagram or TikTok, instead of going straight to the Play Store.
Of course, the idea is to prevent users from exiting the browser too quickly and therefore, forgetting to return to it after viewing the video.
The feature is apparently in tests already, but it may not appear on all users’ devices.
The update is part of Google’s initiative at the beginning of 2020, when the company tried short video carousels for their own YouTube.
