Is there a song that got stuck in your mind but you have no idea how to find it? I bet you can at least hum it. The good news is that Google just released a unique feature that allows users to find tunes by humming, so you are all set if you sing or whistle the tune into your phone.
The technology able to identify songs through singing, humming and whistling is not quite new, as it existed for more than a decade.
Now Google’s Machine Learning systems are trained to “identify songs based on a variety of sources, including humans singing, whistling or humming, as well as studio recordings.” allowing it to eliminate other unnecessary items from a song and find its particular sequence.
Using the feature it doesn’t get much easier, as you open the latest version of the Google app or Google Search widget from your phone, tap click on the Microphone icon and say “what’s this song?” or the Search a song option, then start humming to get the song’s name. Of course, if you are using Google Assistant, all you really need to do is say “Hey Google, what’s this song?” and then start humming.
