The Honor 50 is set to be unveiled in May and it’ll feature a dual ring camera design, as GSMArena reports. They haven’t mentioned any specific period or date though.
The natural follow-up to the Honor V40 launch in China would be the Honor 40 model, but GSMArena’s source dismisses that inference.
The Chinese company will jump straight to Honor 50 series this May, as the picture below shows. It’s an unofficial teaser with the tagline “THE 50 Series” and ‘May 2021″ that also suggests a bit about the camera design through a silhouette: two camera sensors with an LED flash.
By some sketches, we can see that it’ll be a dual-ring pill-shaped camera design similar to the one that appeared on recent Huawei P50 renders (which are also not officially confirmed). The upper cutout will house a single lens, while the lower one is said to hold two sensors. The LED is set between the two circles.
The report guesses that on the right there’s a snap-on filter or lens that attaches externally via magnets. You’re also free to speculate on that gizmo.
In the end, these are only leaks. Anyone could snap some letters on any phone sketches and call it a day. To be fair, the teaser is somewhat harder to create, but not impossible. Take all of this with a pinch of salt, as earlier leaks about the V40 were debunked by the phone’s launch.
But then again, we gotta’ give some credit where it’s due: the leak shows a design pretty close to the Honor V40 Lite.
Just for reference, remember that the Honor 30’s price started at €388 when it launched last year. So, don’t go wild guessing on 50’s price tag, ’cause brands seem to change their minds fast from year to year when it comes to this.
One of the biggest questions on any Honor fan should be “Will the Honor 50 feature Google Mobile Services or not?” That was sort of the point of the split with Huawei.
