Horizon Forbidden West has been officially delayed to February 18th, 2022, according to an announcement on PlayStation.Blog.

While fans may certainly be disappointed in the delay, Game Director at Guerrilla Games Mathijis de Jonge reassured fans that the game was making steady progress: “Horizon Fobidden West had just passed a major milestone and we had entered the final stage of development; on track, but a bit uncertain if we’d be able to polish the game to the level of quality we strive for.” The pandemic was also cited as an understandable challenge for the game’s development.

Industry insiders had already heard that PlayStation was gearing up to delay the game to 2022. It marks the second major first-party PlayStation title to be delayed to 2022 after God of War Ragnörak.

In the meantime, de Jonge announced that Horizon Zero Dawn will be receiving an Enhanced Performance Patch for PlayStation 5 players. The patch is available now, is free, and runs the game at a targeted 60fps.
