If design is just as important for you as hardware and software, then you should definitely check Huawei’s Mate 10 Pro and Pro Porsche. The basic model has all you’d expect for $800, but these versions take it to a new level with sleek design and barely there bezels #mobilemagic
As you’d expect from a Pro model, the screen is bigger than the one for Mate 10, coming up at six inches. What’s more important, though, is the ratio – 18:9 in this case, the same as you’ve seen on the LG G6. So, Huawei has definitely jumped on the bezel-less bandwagon, although it’s stubbornly clinging to a FHD+ resolution.
To do so, the fingerprint scanner has remained on the back underneath the dual camera setup and the headphone jack was removed. Yep, you’ll have to go wireless if you want the 10 Pro or its Porsche twin. Going back to the camera, Huawei has partnered up with Leica again to bring consumers a dual setup made from a 12MP color sensor and a 20MP monochrome sensor. With a f/1.6 to go, your evening shots are guaranteed to look decent enough to post on Social Media. There’s also OIS for stable videos you won’t have to delete afterwards.
While the processor and battery are the same as the ones found on the Mate 10 model, the Pro version offers a better RAM and storage configuration: 6GB/128GB. No microSD slot though. The Porsche version does offer 256GB of internal storage with the same 6GB of RAM, so if you really need more space, this should be your option. Also, the latter has a vertical, slimmer reflective band instead of the horizontal one. It’s definitely more edgier, if you’re looking for that kind of thing.
All Pro models will come later this year, somewhere in the middle of November. The simple Mate 10 Pro is going to sell for €800 ($940), while the car-inspired one will set you back a staggering €1,400 ($1,646).
In other news, Huawei took advantage of the conference to debut some smart accessories, if you will. One of them is EnVizion, a 360 camera that can be attached to the Huawei Mate 10. It shoots 5K photos and 2K videos that can be later on shared across social media platforms.
Alongside it, the company introduced a power bank for 4.5V/5A low-volt fast charging and an unexpected Smart Scale that keeps track of body fat, body mass index and other parameters with the help of a companion app.
We’ll update with the prices set for these accessories as soon as we have them.
