Instagram Makes Product Tagging Available for All U.S. Users

Instagram is now expanding the feature to add product tags in Feed posts to everyone in the US.

Product tagging was previously available only for creators and brands to use, but not for public accounts. “Now we’re giving access to everyone to inspire those closest to them by enabling product tagging in posts,” the company stated.

The update was first announced in March and will be available in the next months. The company added it’s also working on adding the option to tag products in Stories.

In order to tag certain products, you need to first choose a photo or video of the product, make the required edits, and then tap “Tag people” on the “New Post” screen.

Once there, you need to choose “Add tag.” After you select the brand and the product, you are ready to go and pick the exact item and add the tag.

“When someone taps on your product tag on your published Feed post, they’ll be able to get detailed information about the product through a product detail page on Instagram and then can purchase the product directly in app or through the brand’s product detail page,” explained Instagram.
