Keep The Coronavirus Away With Wear OS Smartwatches

wearos-update

During the world’s worst health crisis in recent history, a lot of fake news surfaces on how to prevent or treat infections with coronavirus. Social distancing is the main measure everyone is taking to prevent the spread of the virus. While keeping away from other people is a good idea, scientists are still not completely sure how long the virus survives on surfaces. So washing your hands is another measure which is highly recommended these days.

Google has designed a new feature to the Clock app of WearOS smartwatches which will remind you to wash your hands regularly and countdown while doing so.

You can choose to add a Hand-Wash Timer shortcut in the WearOS menu which will take you to a 40-second session with a 3-second countdown.
The World Health Organization recommends to wash our hands for at least 20 seconds, so 40 is even better. After you’re done removing all the bacteria from your hands the app will remind you to repeat the procedure in 3 hours.

This feature is similar to those that remind you to exercise after a longer period of time of inactivity. Perhaps the two work hand in hand, regular trips to the sink could count as exercise.
