Whether we like it or not, it seems that we are, indeed, heading towards a foldable display future. More and more smartphone manufacturers have hinted at it in the last half of this year, with LG being one of them.
The company has applied on November 21st for three brand name registrations at the European Union Intellectual Property Office and all three of them have been categorized at Class 9, which also includes smartphones.
The names are Flex, Foldi and Duplex, which speak for themselves. While the Flex phone is already in existence via the G Flex smartphone, we’ll have to wait and see about the other two. Either of them could be a good fit for LG’s future foldable phone, which the company has admitted that it is working on.
Just because the names have been registered does not necessarily mean that LG will use them in the near future. Although, rumor is the company will show off a foldable display at CES 2019.
