A number of PlayStation4 owners have reported receiving PSN messages containing unreadable characters that cause their consoles to crash and then leave them unable to start properly again.
Deleting any of the messages after they have been read doesn’t do the trick either – the users have to either rebuild the database in Safe Mode or factory reset the system altogether.
For the moment, the only fix the users have been able to find was to set their PlayStation 4 to only accept messages from friends that they’ve already confirmed or just block all messages completely.
Sony has not made any official comments concerning the bug yet but they will most likely be able to address the problem with a software update.
If we hear anything more about it, we’ll keep you posted.
