Mario Kart Is Going Mobile: Nintendo To Release Smartphone Version

Nintendo is going to the mobile side. The company has announced it was officially bringing one of their most popular titles to smartphones in the months to come #mobilemagic

In this fiscal year, from April 2018 to March 2019, Nintendo will work at bringing Mario Kart Tour to smartphone operating systems. The mobile app joins three other titles released for mobile last year, like Super Mario Run, Fire Emblem Heroes, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. The company planned on launching more mobile games but decided to postpone those in favor of announcing new devices.

As you know, Nintendo Switch was an instant success. I don’t believe even they knew how much popularity and profits it would bring them in a short period of time. Last Spring, Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo of America, said that the console had been the fastest selling Nintendo product in Americas, the sales in the first two days from the launch surpassing those of Wii, even.

Yesterday, Nintendo revealed that 14.86 million Switch consoles have been sold to date, with about half as many copies of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. This explains even better Nintendo’s decision to bring the game quickly to mobile.

The company was also quick to increase their profits by releasing Switch-related products. The most recent is Nintendo Labo, a kit that uses Switch as the base of Toy-Cons, cardboard objects that can be used in digital games.
