Apple TV+ and Disney+ are just around the corner, both of them set up for a November release and, as you can imagine, both streaming services will most likely prove to be the long-awaited worthy rivals of Netflix.
And the latter company does have some reason to worry: Disney+ for example, announced one of the most anticipated TV Series of the year, The Mandalorian, as well as original series like Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk.
Apple TV+ on the other hand announced The Elephant Queen, Dickinson and The Morning Show as part of its subscription, as well as the option of adding up to six members to one subscription, for no extra cost. In addition to that, the company is even adding a one-year free Apple TV+ trial to those who buy new iPhones, iPads, Apple TVs, Macs or iPod Touch.
Needless to say, the upcoming competition is solid.
But the Netflix is not planning to give up its spot without a fight – or, rather, without some marketing tactics. Netflix first introduced a $3 per month subscription, mobile-only plan in India a while ago and now it has come up with a new way to attract more subscribers: allow the non-registered users to watch free episodes.
Netflix started this with the first episode of Elite, which aired in Mexico and Columbia and now it offers the first episode of one of its latest series, Bard of Blood, for free. The lead actor of the series, Emraan Hashmi tweeted the news as well.
The episode will be free for a limited time and Netflix stated that it is trying “different ways to bring people closer to great stories” and that it believes “many people will find the thrilling story of spy Kabir Anand very appealing and are excited to make the first episode of the series available to everyone for a limited time. In the future, we will consider if we will do this for other films and series.”
