Halide, a pro camera app for iPhone, was launched almost two years ago and yesterday, the duo that made it happen – Ben Sandofsky and former Apple designer Sebastiaan de With – have launched their second app, called Spectre. This app, just like Halide, is also for phone photography but it focuses on intelligent long-exposure photos.
So, what happens when you take photos with Spectre?
The app uses what is called an intelligent computational shutter, which takes hundreds of photos in just a few seconds – the same thing you would do if you would take long-exposure photos with a camera.
The difference is that the camera would have to be set on a tripod and it would take a bit longer to get the shots than with Spectre, which basically simplifies the process as much as it can be simplified.
All you have to do is tweak a few settings around, hold the phone as steady as you can and press the button. You can also employ the use of Siri to capture the photos hands-free.
But that’s not everything the app can do – it can also let you delete people from busy locations, capture light trails or the movement of water.
For the moment, the app is available for $1.99 as a limited time offer from the App Store, so grab it while you still can.
