If you always wanted one of Nintendo‘s NES Classic or a SNES Classic Mini console, this Christmas will be the last chance for you to grab one – Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aimé confirmed during an interview with the Hollywood Reporter that, once the consoles will be sold out during the holiday season, they will not be manufactured again.

The consoles have been massively popular – they sold over 10 million units between them and sold out almost as soon as they became available on the market. The fact that they came pre-loaded with a handful of popular retro games did nothing but garner more interest in the classics.

But, even with that success in mind, the pre-loaded classics are one of the reasons, it seems, why the consoles will become a thing of the past for good.

There’s no ability for add-on content with our classic consoles,” Fils-Aimé said during the interview “so when you purchase the console it’s coming with that set roster of content. We’ve said that the current systems are the extent of our classic program.”

He went on to say that the classic games have been added to Switch’s set of NES Games, so we can most likely expect more to come via the service in the future.
