The official Nokia Mobile account on Twitter released a teaser image for a smartphone launch; the image only shows a silhouette of the device with the words “Get ready to unveil the most awaited phone” written above it, as you can see below.
Obviously, this doesn’t give us a lot to go on but pretty much everyone is convinced that the company is ready to release the Nokia 9 flagship phone. Even so, the teaser might actually prove to be related to the Nokia 6.1 Plus, which has already been announced.
Now, let me argue this for a bit – the Nokia customers were quite loud about the Nokia X6 being unveiled in China and, aside from that, Flipkart is also believed to play a role in the phone’s release in India, since it reposted the teaser on its own website. This could suggest that they will offer the new smartphone through their website exclusively.
The event in itself is set to unfold in India, whose market generally lacks interest in premium offerings. So it wouldn’t make much sense to release the Nokia 9 over there. Definitely not with the IFA Berlin just a breath away. At the IFA, the Nokia 9 would catch on to a market that is more interested in pricier phones and the device would have a much bigger impact.
Either way, Nokia got us interested in this little mystery and we’re looking forward to what’s going to happen next.
