Hot on the heels of the launch of the Nubia Alpha, a smartwatch that takes some pretty good photos, Nubia also announces the Nubia Pods.
These are the company’s first true wireless earbuds and they’re produced in collaboration with 1MORE, a company partly owned by Xiaomi which also creates quite a few Xiaomi headphones and earbuds.
The Nubia Pods look pretty sleek, weighing just 6.2 grams each (around 53 grams in their case), and they’re available in two colors: gold or black with a metallic finish.
Those familiar with the 1MORE Stylish true wireless earbuds might think the Nubia Pods are just that model rebranded but there are some major differences in terms of specs.
The Nubia Pods bring Bluetooth 5.0 and support for Qualcomm aptX audio and AAC HD audio.
The button on the right earbud will answer calls in one click and reject calls with a long press.
The button on the left plays or pauses with a click, skips to the next song with a double click, and jumps to the previous tune in three clicks.
To turn the Nubia Pods on, you’ll have to press both buttons for 2 seconds, and to turn them off, you’ll have to do a four-second press.
In terms of battery life, each Nubia Pod has a capacity of 55 mAh for 6.5 hours of playback. The case itself has 410 mAh and can charge itself fully in 85 minutes.
While we don’t know when the Nubia Pods will hit the shelves, we do know they’ll cost around $119 and come with three pairs of silicone ear tips and O-hooks.
