The OnePlus 7 Pro Will be officially revealed on May 14th and will be split in two versions: the regular version will have some improvements over its predecessor, the 6T, while the Pro version will arrive with a triple camera setup.
This triple camera setup is the star of this article, as Wired recently got their hands on a pre-production model of the device, and took a few snaps with it.
For one thing, the users will be able to go up to 10x when zooming but there is no AI scene detection set in place for this model – and thankfully so, considering they were not very good at detecting what exactly it was you were trying to take a photo of in the first place.
According to Wired, there’s less detail and mid-tone contrast and more noise to the photos when compared to the 5x zoom images of the Huawei P30 Pro. The report also confirms that there’s no Time-of-Flight sensor present on the OnePlus 7 Pro either.
Even so, the camera does retain fine detail and shadow information but does not erase all the noise, which you will find even in images taken in daylight. Night mode also looks like it has been improved when compared to past cameras and it delivers better color and detail but, of course, expect some inevitable noise.
Auto HDR looks much better than it did on the previous devices and offers a more natural look alongside realistic color temperatures and tonal fidelity. The portrait mode sees some improvements as well, with a better bokeh effect and progressive blurring.
Altogether, the sample photos look less processed and definitely feel more natural than the ones previous OnePlus devices used to deliver but we’re still holding out for some some photos in the wild after the device will be officially released.
