TP Vision, the maker of Philips TVs and audio products, just joined forces with Xperi, the owner of DTS, to make future products sound even better.

TP Vision just announced that upcoming Philips TVs will include DTS Play-Fi technology, with the future aim of having all 2020 Philips Android TVs on the same wireless connectivity platform.

What is DTS Play-Fi? It’s something that goes beyond audio quality and will unite a lot of entertainment devices in a coherent set-up.

“Philips TV is also the first premium TV brand to include the DTS Play-Fi feature with its multi-room audio capability within the set – allowing compatible speakers to connect to the television and serve as surround speaker, or as a multi-room extension of the TV audio,” explains TP Vision in the press release for upcoming TV sets.

The first Philips TV with DTS Play-Fi will be the 800 series.

The Philips OLED805/855/865 sets will launch this July in 55-inch and 65-inch models, bringing Android 9 Smart TV functionality, multi-speaker 50-Watt sound systems and, to really drive home the premium aspect, “Muirhead responsibly sourced leather”.

For the image, the new Philips TV sets support all the major HDR standards, have a 4th gen P5 AI processor for better HDR performance and feature Dolby Bright Mode.

If you just bought yourself a TV don’t worry, you won’t miss out.

Philips committed to bringing DTS-Play-Fi tech to their 2019 line-up as well, via a firmware upgrade.
