If you got excited after hearing about LG’s Cam Grip, then you’re going to love this nifty accessory from Miggo. The startup devised a camera grip for iPhone that resembles almost perfectly SLR controls #mobilemagic
Pictar has a retro feeling, taking you back to the old look of Olympus cameras, although it won’t make your smartphone gear feel outdated, since it works hand-in-hand with an app. After connecting the phone to the grip, you can make the two devices talk through ultrasounds. The phone is capable of “hearing” the high-frequency tones made by a zooming in action or tweaking ISO option through the Pictar app and do what it’s told.
The combination between inaudible sound and algorithm makes it efficient where power consumption is involved. The physical controls on the grip are shutter button, zoom ring on the front, exposure compensation wheel and a scene dial that helps you choose a preset or another. Of course, you can give the wheels other functions.
The grip is pretty lightweight and professional as well as amateur photographers will find it easy to work with. The only catch? It works with iPhones from 4 to 6S, except the Plus versions.
If you’re in that range, head over here to buy it for $90.
