Console exclusive games are one of the driving reasons on might buy a console. Halo for Xbox, Mario and Legend of Zelda for Nintendo, and Last of Us and God of War for PlayStation are a couple examples of console exclusive games that given gamers reasons to buy the respective consoles. But it seems like Horizon Zero Dawn, a critically acclaimed PlayStation exclusive, will be making its way to PC this summer.
According to PC Gamer, the version of Horizon Zero Dawn set to be available on PC will be the Complete Edition currently available for PlayStation 4. In an interview on PlayStation Blog, Harmen Hulst, Head of Worldwide Studios, noted that more information would come from the original publishers of the game.
Many are probably excited about the possibility of PlayStation’s wide variety of exclusive games available on other consoles, but this port seems to a unique case. As Hulst notes, “Releasing one first-party AAA title to PC doesn’t necessarily mean that every game now will come to PC. In my mind, Horizon Zero Dawn was just a great fit in this particular instance.”
While some fans may be disappointed that some critically acclaimed PlayStation games won’t be making their way to PC, it is still pretty notable that Horizon Zero Dawn will. Sony has a reputation of being particularly strict with letting its exclusives on other platforms whereas Nintendo and Microsoft have been pretty friendly lately.
In the end, Horizon Zero Dawn coming to PC introduces a new audience to a stunning game and could potentially drive up sales for PlayStation products.
