The month of February will see the launch of a few gaming smartphones and another one has been added to the list of possible releases: the Red Magic 7.
This device will also come with a feature that is a first for gaming smartphones: an under-display camera.
So far, we know that the Red Magic 7 and 7 Pro will come with a transparent back, which was shown in a teaser video that featured a slew of kittens, in honor of The Chinese New Year, which happens to be the Year of the Tiger.
Added to that will be a full screen side to side, thanks to the under-display camera, at least according to tipster DigitalChatStation, whose track record has been pretty solid so far. However, it’s worth mentioning that the first images of the Red Magic 7, which have appeared on TENAA, do show a small camera set up at the top of the screen.
According to the same leakster, the Red Magic 7 will have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 under the hood, 18GB worth of RAM and a 165Hz OLED high resolution screen with touch sampling at 720Hz.
There will also be a 20,000 rpm cooling system on board (the same one we’ve seen on the Red Magic 6 and 6s), that makes sure the device doesn’t overheat, alongside an RGB lighting system.
The device has also recently received a 3C listing that reveals that the phone will offer 165W fast charging support and that the vanilla version of the device will pack a 2,190mAh battery.
In the same breath, we also find out that the global variant of the smartphone will offer 65W fast charging support, according to the FCC listing this time, and that both handsets will have a 4,500mAh battery instead.
Other than that, we know that the device will run Android 12 OS out of the box, of course, with RedMagic UI on top.
Nubia has been pretty quiet about everything else so we can only assume that these certifications, all of which have come in quick succession, mean that the phone will be released at some point in February.
