An exclusive report in Insider-Gaming says that Sony is working on a new PlayStation handheld, the so-called “PlayStation Q Lite”.
However, PlayStation Vita fans will be disappointed to know that, according to their sources, the PlayStation Q Lite isn’t a standalone console like in the old days.
From Insider Gaming:
“Codenamed the Q Lite, the next PlayStation handheld is the next piece of Sony hardware that aims to be yet another piece of hardware that requires the PlayStation 5. Insider Gaming understands that the Q Lite is not a cloud-streaming device, but instead uses Remote Play with the PlayStation 5 – A feature the console giant has been pushing these past couple of weeks.
Sporting adaptive streaming up to 1080p and 60FPS, the new device will require constant connectivity to the internet”.
According to the outlet, the early prototypes look a lot like the existing PS5 controller but with a huge 8-inch touchscreen in the center.
While we usually hope rumors do come true, we hope this isn’t the case here, because we really would like to see a next-gen PS Vita, and not a “console” that requires having a PS5 and constant connection to work.
