Apple has announced its second generation AirPods just recently, with their biggest selling point being the wireless charging case and, by the looks of it, wireless is the way to go for Apple this year.
According to Japanese blog Macotakara, Apple’s upcoming iPhone might have the ability to wirelessly charge other devices. Macotakara quotes Chinese supplier sources that back up these claims; they also suggest that the Apple Watch will also be powered up via the next-generation iPhone.
In addition to this, the sources claim that this new iPhone will also feature a new charging cable and the 18W charging port currently available on the iPad Pro, in addition to improved cameras and, of course, a larger battery.
Keep in mind though that these are nothing but claims that have not been backed up by any official Apple statements or even any leaks, so it remains to be seen if there is any grain of truth to them. Until then, take this information with a pinch of salt.
