Samsung announced yesterday that a new feature, called Remote Access, will be available for its Smart TV lineups as of 2019.
The feature will allow the users to remotely control compatible programs or apps via their Samsung Smart TV, alongside other input devices such as keyboards. Users can access their PC remotely through the TV in order to surf the web or play games with a connected keyboard and mouse.
“Samsung is committed to creating an intuitive and convenient user experience for consumers. With Remote Access, consumers will be able to easily access various programs, apps and cloud services installed on multiple connected devices directly through their TV screen. We will continue to collaborate with our partners to expand the compatibility of Remote Access and provide more services to our users.”
Hyogun Lee, Samsung Electronics Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business
Remote Access benefits from a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), which allows the feature to be used anywhere in the world.
Samsung didn’t forget about security either: the company integrated its Knox security technology into the feature.
Knox has been embedded into the company’s Smart TV lineup ever since 2015 and has been certified by Common Criteria for its security performance – it also happens to be the only security solution in the Smart TV industry to have received the certification so far.
