Samsung will definitely try to surpass their competition in terms of mobile assistants next year. The South Korean manufacturer has now confirmed that the rumored Viv AI assistant will come to Samsung S8 #mobilemagic
The company confirmed to Reuters what was just a rumor a month ago. Samsung S8 will be the first product from the company to feature a unique AI, developed by Viv (the brain behind Apple’s Siri, too). While the competition is nothing to joke about, Samsung is confident that their AI will have an advantage. There hasn’t been much data on the assistant’s features but one thing is sure: it will have dynamic program generation. Even if it is confronted with a new task, it will be able to handle it simply, based on developers’ descriptions, not necessarily code.
Seamless third-party integration will be a given with this assistant, assures us Rhee Injong, Samsung’s executive VP:
“Developers can attach and upload services to our agent. Even if Samsung doesn’t do anything on its own, the more services that get attached the smarter this agent will get, learn more new services and provide them to end-users with ease.”
The Viv AI is said to carry on complex queries better and transfer information over apps easily. The idea is to create a unified interface with voice guidance. Home appliances as well as wearable devices under the Samsung umbrella will benefit from it.
