Spotify has made a deal with one of the biggest soccer clubs in the world – and now basically has its own stadium.
The $310 million deal will see one of the most iconic soccer stadiums in the world rebranded as Spotify Camp Nou. The streaming app’s name will appear over the gates of the Spanish soccer club FC Barcelona to greet people for the next two years.
Even more, the deal includes Spotify’s name on the jerseys of every FC Barcelona player for the next four seasons.
Right now, the deal is not finalized. It has to be ratified by FC Barcelona’s Extraordinary Delegate Members Assembly on April 3rd but it will likely pass unchallenged because of the organization’s financial status.
In October 2021, it was revealed that FC Barcelona is more than $1.5 billion in debt and had to sell part of its media stake.
In that context, the Spotify FC Barcelona deal is a welcomed cash injection and will probably go forward in the next few weeks.
