The HTC 5G Hub is Ready To Bring Fast Internet Speeds Into Your Home

HTC has unveiled its 5G Hub at the MWC this year but don’t think this is just your average connectivity hub – the device also arrives with a built-in 5 inch Android tablet.

While it’s not designed to work as a smart display, you can speak to Google Assistant via the Hub but the screen should mainly be used for gaining quick access to controls. It runs on Android Pie and is powered up by the latest Qualcomm chipset, the Snapdragon 855.

As far as speeds go, you can expect up to 2.3GBps speeds for downloads, thanks to the X50 5G modem and antenna modules with integrated RF transcievers and an RF front-end.

The device in itself only has 4GB of RAM and 32GB of ROM.

The HTC 5G Hub has a 7,660mAh battery which should, according to the company, last about a day if the screen is on and only up to two people are connected or if it’s off and a group of people is. Unfortunately, since 5G networks are not around just yet, HTC can’t really estimate correctly how long the battery will go on for.

The HTC 5G Hub enables 4K video streaming and low-latency gaming but can also be a 5G mobile hotspot for up to 20 users and, in addition to all this, it can also charge your phone.

HTC plans that, in the future, users will stream VR content from the cloud to a VIVE Focus headset via the HTC 5G Hub eliminating the need for PCs or cables.

The HTC 5G Hub will be offered by a number of carriers from all over the world, including Spring in the U.S, Telstra in Australia, Three UK, Deutsche Telekom in Germany, Sunrise in Switzerland and Elisa in Finland.

For the moment, we don’t know how much the HTC 5G Hub will cost but it will become available sometime in the second quarter of the year.
