Today, in the world of drones… a defense firm is planning on skipping months or years of manufacturing pieces and putting drones together, by growing them in just weeks in their own laboratories #saywhat #actionmagic
Defense firm BAE Systems is convinced it can use a Chemputer (currently at conceptual stage) to make that dream reality. Chemputer is a chemical 3D printer of sorts that could grow drones in vats from nothing, at a molecular level.
This innovative process would allow the company to make drones in weeks, if and when emergencies arise. By the finish line, the electronic components that could not be grown would simply be added.
Of course, this is just the beginning of a project for now. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves and stay realistic. It could be years before we see anything like this working properly.
