When even phones sell for over $1000, we can hardly hope to find a great laptop for less. Yet, ASUS managed to surprise us with an OLED machine that’s just $800!
ASUS is no stranger to laptop innovation and screens to die for but, until now, they hadn’t found a way to put together a computer that’s budget-friendly as well as chock-full of great specs. Enter Asus ZenBook 13 OLED.
The slim 13-inches laptop that weighs 2.5 pounds is less than $1000, whether you choose an Intel or an AMD configuration. At $800, Zenbook 13 with a 1080p OLED screen (model UX325EA-ES71) can ship with Intel Core i7 or AMD Ryzen 7 processors.
You can choose up to 1TB of storage and 16GB of RAM and expect a backlit keyboard, an IR camera with Windows Hello support, HDMI 2.0 and USB-A ports, USB-C ports, and a microSD card slot. Pretty great, right?
As for the right choice of processors – AMD or Intel – I can’t really tell you what to do, but I can say each of them come with their benefits and drawbacks. For example, for the starting price of $800, Intel offers only 256GB of storage while AMD sweetens the deal with 512GB. However, Intel does get you Thunderbold 4 ports. Besides these, you’ll see a couple of differences in battery life and wi-fi, too.
Oh, and the headphone jack is missing – the Zenbook 13 apparently took a leaf out of phone manufacturers’ pages.
If that doesn’t bother you too much and you’re interested in seeing the laptop up close, check it out at Amazon.
