Taco Bell’s first new digital-driven, two-story restaurant concept opens in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. Named Taco Bell Defy, the restaurant has a very futuristic approach, being the first-ever four-lane Taco Bell drive-thru. The restaurant promises the ultimate contactless experience for customers, in less than two minutes.
The drive-thru Taco-Bell has a kitchen that is situated above and allows for four food points, instead of the one or two we usually find in drive-thru Taco-Bell restaurants, allowing three lanes for food delivery drivers or those who decide to pick up their orders. Contactless counter service is also available inside the restaurant.
The motivation behind this idea is the fact that during the pandemic, about 65% to 70% of sales at Border’s Taco Bells came from the drive-thru line, with approximately 90% currently. On that note, Mike Grams, Taco Bell President, and Global CO0 told Axios, that “we saw a lot of behavior change, and we don’t see (the old way) coming back.”
