A Hololens-enabled helmet from Limpid Armor has attracted the attention of Ukraine’s military. Soon, tank commanders could use it as a way of monitoring the area without having to leave their vehicles #realitymagic
Circular Review System (CRS) is the name of a smart helmet with Hololens technology. First unveiled in October at the Arms and Security show in Kiev, it’s meant to give soldiers a way of seeing their enemies’ position as well as assess the field without taking risks. Of course, tanks are already equipped with an array of external cameras that transmit footage on interior monitors, but why bother with external devices? Why run from one monitor to the other?
CRS allows soldiers to watch live videos at eye level. Instead of showing up on the monitors, the footage is stitched together, offering a 360-degree view in both visible and infrared spectrums. Moreover, the device can even tag enemies and allies, designate targets and transmit all sorts of vital data to the commander.
It might prove to be an important asset of warfare.
