Jumping on 30-feet high buildings is probably a secret, superhero fantasy for you, but not for this tiny robot; he is leaving the dream!
Boston Dynamics, the same ones who invested Atlas with super balance, made Sand Flea, an 11-lb robot that can fly high. The name says it all; this tiny robot simply looks up, raises his front wheels and off he goes, onto the roof of a building. It’s instant and amazing, if you consider the height. “An onboard stabilization system keeps it oriented during flight to improve the view from the video uplink and to control landings“, explain the engineers, if you were wondering how is that even possible.
Soon, the US military might use it, since the project is funded by the US Army’s Rapid Equipping Force. For now, watch it jump and wish it was yours!
