Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun took to Weibo to announce that the camera software on the Mi 8 and Mi Mix 2S will be getting a considerable upgrade, in the form of the same camera software currently present on the Mi Mix 3.
Jun explained that all three devices share the same camera hardware – a 12MP Sony IMX 363 CMOS sensor and a secondary Samsung S5K3M3 sensor for telephoto, so upgrading the software should not prove to be an issue. Besides, we have to admit that Xiaomi has been striving to continuously improve the camera experience on their devices ever since the Mi 8 was released.
What Lei Jun did not mention was exactly when the update is expected but, considering all three phones run the same software and come with more or less similar hardware, it should be pretty soon.
