Confirming the rumors that have been going around in the past few days, the Xiaomi Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint Edition was presented this morning in China.
The new smartphone takes some of its data sheet from the previous model – we’re going to find on it a 6.21 inch AMOLED screen and FullHD+ at 1080 x 2248 pixels with a top notch on it, first of all. Inside the notch there is an infrared face recognition system that allows the users to unlock the smartphone even in the dark or low light conditions.
It will come with a Snapdragon 845 with either 6 or 8GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory.
It has a dual rear camera and both sensors have a resolution of 12 megapixels, alongside a front camera of 20 megapixels.
The 3.5mm jack is absent but the battery is the same as on the Xiaomi Mi 8 – 3,400mAh, and is compatible with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4+ technology.
The star of the show is the pressure sensitive fingerprint reader, set directly on the screen, which gives the phone its name.
Other specifications include 4G / VoLTE support, dual band 802.11 ac WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, dual band GPS, GLONASS and USB Type-C connector.
The Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint Edition prices will start at $467 for the 6GB/128GB model and $525 for the 8GB/128GB variant.
