Forget everything you thought you knew – iPhone SE2 might actually come with a glass back and a headphone jack. Gasp!
The rumors circulating a month ago might never become reality. A leaked image appears to contradict the March report that pointed to a budget smartphone from Apple with an aluminum chassis but no headphone jack.
If anything, iPhone SE 2 will come with a glass back, just like iPhone 4, and keep the headphone jack, a feature many consumers have missed since their 2016 event. That marked the first time Apple ditched the jack on an iPhone, setting the stage for AirPods.
Why not giving it up altogether? Well, since this is Apple’s budget offering, they are assuming the users who go for it aren’t comfortable with spending extra on a pair of wireless buds.
As for the glass rear, this production decision likely means Apple wants to provide wireless charging for the device, just like iPhone 8 and iPhone X offer. From what we can tell, the front of the iPhone will look just like its predecessor – same Touch ID sensor and selfie shooter layout.
So when can we expect the smartphone? This June at the earliest. Apple is going to host its WWDC event then, so it’s possible they will reveal the budget phone, especially since the fall season is reserved for flagship launches.
We’ll cover the event, so stay tuned to find out if all the rumors come true!
