Move over soulmates and random Tinder swipes, this DNA dating app wants to offer the perfect match using genetic testing! #mobilemagic
Pheramor, the name of the app, might sound like it’s doing a wordplay on “pheromones”, but it goes a bit further than that.
It won’t make you swap for matches. Instead, you have to swab the inside of your cheek for DNA samples. You then send your DNA sample to Pheramor, who analyzes it and lines up potential dates with whom you share a genetic compatibility score.
Of course, you also have to connect your social media accounts to it, so it will rely on you and your matches’ likes to determine compatibility.
The newly announced dating app will launch this week in Houston and already has a few thousand users signed up, even though common sense (and science) will raise a few flags.
“Pheramor uses both your biology and your social technology; we collect your genetic data through a Q-tip-like cheek swab and acquire your like, dislikes, and interests from your social media profiles like Facebook, Twitter, etc,” says the official website.
However, if you’re sick and tired of Tinder, OkCupid, Match.com, and a dozen other similar services, the Pheramor DNA dating app might be worth trying.
Just bear in mind that the DNA swabbing kit is $15.99 and there’s also a monthly subscription fee.
