Twitter subscriptions have long been rumored and now it seems they’re coming true.
A $2.99 per month ‘Twitter Blue’ subscription just showed up on the Twitter App Store listing – so you might consider it official.
Twitter themselves didn’t announce a paid service but app researcher Jane Manchun Wong spotted the service.
The researcher also did some reverse engineering to find out what you get for $2.99 per month if you pay for Twitter.
Apparently, you’ll get to take back your words with an “undo tweet” feature, which might come in handy the next time you start a fight with a stranger or accidentally overshare.
Paid Twitter subscribers will also get more customization options, like color themes and app icons, plus a nifty “reader mode”, which turns mile-long Twitter threads into a more readable format.
The same researcher also found Twitter Blue will let you create bookmark collections which, again, seems like a nice feature indeed.
Still, the question remains: will anyone pay for Twitter?
“For testing, I’ve become the first paying Twitter Blue customer,” tweeted Wong.
