Porsche is making a bold move to ensure it stays at the heart of innovation in technology. The company is opening a new digital tech center in Silicon Valley #todaymagic

The company announced its new venture yesterday. They plan to hire 100 people in Santa Clara, where the center is located. The staff will work on establishing new partnerships, cooperating with venture-capital companies and investing in companies. The more general goal of the digital division is connectivity and smart mobility.

“The car is the ultimate mobile device of the future, and the future is being written in Silicon Valley,” said Thilo Koslowski, Managing Director of Porsche Digital. “This means it is particularly important to be right next door to leading IT companies in the USA, as this allows us to identify trends early and invest in new technologies at the right time.

Indeed, being aware of the latest trends will give Porsche a great advantage, granting it access to new, innovative technologies. So far, the company has invested in venture-capital fund E.ventures US. The decision was taken after just one year of work in this direction. In 2016, Porsche launched the digital division in Ludwigsburg, near Stuttgart.

But they’re dreaming big. Porsche intends to obtain additional affiliates in key innovation centers all over the world, such as in Asia.
