Analogue Pocket is probably the most hyped portable console we’ve seen in years – and almost impossible to get.
Once the multi-video-game-system went on the market, all pre-order stocks vanished in a matter of minutes, leaving many to ask just how exactly to get an Analogue Pocket.
Why the hype?
Beyond the compact form factor, this tiny console is compatible with more than 2700 Game Boy, Game Boy Color & Game Boy Advance games, playing all your oldschool cartridges.
Yes, this is not an emulator.
You can use your game cartridges from way back when, no other tinkering required.
However, if you do want more, the Analogue Pocket is compatible with other cartridge adapters, so you can play even Game Gear, Neo Geo Pocket Color or Atari Lynx.
Even better, it has a 1600 x 1440 resolution 3.5″ inch LCD screen (with Gorilla Glass to protect it) and 615 ppi.
That’s ten times the resolution and clarity of the original Gameboy, so your old games will look better than ever before.
If that’s not enough, the devs say it’s also a “digital audio workstation with a built-in synthesizer and sequencer”.
With these specs and the $200 price tag, it’s easy to see why it took only minutes for the Analogue Pocket to sell out.
However, the makers say they’re working to replenish stocks to “meet demand during this unfortunate global state of affairs.”
