Valve Announces Steam Deck Is Delayed

Were you hoping to get your hands on the Steam Deck handheld PC this holiday season? Unfortunately, that’s not going to happen, so better look for another gift now!

Valve announced that the Steam Deck is delayed for February 2022.

The handheld was supposed to show up this December and let you play PC games on the go, for up to 7 or 8 hours on a single charge, for just $400. Because of the materials shortage that’s affecting the entire tech industry, Valve had no choice but to delay it in order to ensure a smooth launch.

“We’re sorry about this — we did our best to work around the global supply chain issues, but due to material shortages, components aren’t reaching our manufacturing facilities in time for us to meet our initial launch dates,” Valve wrote. “Based on our updated build estimates, Steam Deck will start shipping to customers February 2022. This will be the new start date of the reservation queue — all reservation holders keep their place in line but dates will shift back accordingly,” announced Valve in a statement.

The Steam Deck features a quad-core Zen 2 CPU,  AMD RDNA 2 graphics and 16GB of RAM under the hood, with 64 GB of storage for the base $400 model and 512 GB of storage for the $649 one, expandable via microSD.

Destiny 2, Apex Legends, PUBG, and More May Not Run On Steam Deck’s Current OS
