Elon Musk gave us a preview of the stylish astronaut suits made for Crew Dragon’s extraterrestrial journeys. Now, SpaceX is disclosing the full body suit and it’s pretty dashing #mobilemagic
Musk, an active social media user, took to Instagram, once again, to showcase the entire Crew Dragon spacesuit. The pressure suit won’t be seen outside their capsule, since it’s not meant for spacewalks, but will offer the crew the protection needed. White with black details, the suit reminds us a little bit of Daft Punk but goes perfectly with the capsule, displaying the same design language:
The suit has passed double vacuum pressure tests and it’s bound to make its way on the Crew Dragon capsule headed to the International Space Station. Its goal is to make commercial flights to the ISS.
The capsule is fully autonomous, designed in such a way to be controllable by an onboard crew as well as people at the SpaceX mission control. It has four windows, from where passengers can see Earth, the Moon and wider Solar System and is customizable in many regards, including interior temperature. The astronauts can set it anywhere between 65 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
