Chasing That Brown Aesthetic But Your Devices Ruin the Look? Try These Curated Picks

brown interior design

Why is tech not jumping on the brown aesthetic? Actually, there are plenty of gadgets, tools and even icon packs for brown aesthetic lovers – and we’ll show you some fantastic choices in this guide to more stylish tech.

But first, for those unfamiliar with the term, let’s see what the brown aesthetic is all about. You definitely see it, you just probably didn’t know the term for it!

The “brown aesthetic” refers to a trend in visual design that emphasizes warm, earthy tones and natural textures like wood, leather, and stone. This aesthetic has gained popularity in recent years, particularly on social media, where it’s been embraced by a wide range of people, from fashion bloggers to interior designers to visual artists and beyond.

Why is the brown aesthetic so popular?

There are several reasons why the brown aesthetic is everywhere and no, we don’t just mean Twin Peaks-style wood paneling.

One is its association with nature and the outdoors. As people spend more time indoors and in front of screens, there is a growing desire to reconnect with the natural world, and the brown aesthetic provides a way to do that. The warm, earthy tones and natural textures evoke a sense of comfort and coziness, which is particularly appealing during times of stress and uncertainty.

Another reason for the popularity of the brown aesthetic is its versatility. The muted, neutral tones of brown can be combined with a wide range of other colors and textures, making it easy to create a variety of different looks and moods. You’ll see in this guide on the brown aesthetic tech plenty of bold color choices that complement the earthy tones.

Additionally, the brown aesthetic can be adapted to suit a wide range of design styles, from rustic to modern to minimalist.

Finally, the brown aesthetic has gained popularity in part because of its association with sustainability and environmentalism. By using natural materials and emphasizing the beauty of the natural world, the brown aesthetic encourages a more mindful, eco-friendly approach to design and consumption. Think rattan furniture, sea-grass boxes, hemp carpets and linen clothing.

In short, the brown aesthetic has become popular because it offers a way to reconnect with nature, create a sense of comfort and coziness, and express a commitment to sustainability and environmentalism, all while remaining versatile and adaptable to different design styles and preferences.

Is there a place for brown in tech though? Yes, and if you’re looking for ways to create a more natural, more cohesive theme to your indoor decor, check out our recommendations below.

What’s with the brown app icon aesthetic? A trend you have to try

First off, the easiest, cheapest way to incorporate the brown aesthetic is with your phone and other screens.

The brown app icon aesthetic was all the rage a while back and the trend seems to be one that will stay with us. A lot of guides on digital detoxing and curbing phone addiction recommend putting your phone on grayscale to make it less appealing.

You can do the same with brown app icon packs for iPhone and Android. You turn your phone into an oasis of calm, where the TikTok or Instagram icon don’t pop out and invite you to waste time passively consuming content. Think about it: when you unlock your phone, it’s simply the power of habit that makes you tap on a social media app.

If all the icons have their colors muted, you have to actively search for the social media ones, turning a passive habit into an active intent. If you were trying to use social media less, this one trick can help.

Plus, the brown aesthetic apps do make your phone design look more cohesive and well, more expensive.

You can do the same thing with your laptop or PC. Just Google “brown aesthetic wallpapers” and you’ll find plenty of free and beautiful choices from sites like Unsplash or Pexels.

As for actual furnishings, here are some fantastic choices that can align your tech with brown aesthetics.

Brown cable management

Most of the cables in your home are black or white, but some brands go for crazy colors like red, blue and even yellow. Have plenty of gadgets? That’s an aesthetic nightmare but one easily solved by smart cable management. In this case, just look for brown cable management solutions like brown cable ties or a brown cable cover for your alien-looking router.

These wooden boxes for cables fit any decor and add a touch of brown chic to any aesthetic. Why the colorful straps? Trust me, you need those so you can label which cable is which. Fortunately, those are hidden in the box.

Good cable management has several benefits. First, it makes it easier to locate and access cables when they need to be repaired or replaced. Second, it reduces the risk of tripping hazards and other safety hazards caused by loose or tangled cables.

If you have hardwood or laminate floors, these brown cable cover strips work great to hide annoying cables from power strips.

Finally, with good cable management you can improve the overall appearance of your home – you reduce visual clutter and create a more streamlined and professional look!

If you love the brown books aesthetic, this company makes a beautiful router cover box out of actual books (and sell book packs by color!).

Now, ready for some actual brown aesthetic gadgets to add a premium touch to your home or office space?

Brown aesthetic headphones

I love my Meze 99 Classics and I’m sure you will love them too. These beautiful headphones have ear cups made of actual walnut hardwood and the audio quality would satisfy any audiophile.

The Meze Classics are made by a small Romanian company and you can see that small business-specific love in every detail. They aren’t cheap but they look insanely more expensive than what they actually cost.

Even in our office, where we have a few dozen premium headphones lying around waiting to be tested, I noticed the Meze are usually what colleagues reach for when they want to do some focused work.

Brown aesthetic speakers

Another one of our office mainstays is this Marshall Stanmore II Bluetooth speaker. Well, actually, since the office is full of musicians and audiophiles, there’s a Marshall something everywhere you look but this particular Bluetooth speaker is definitely my favorite of the bunch.

The portable Marshall speaker is a fantastic example of how the brown aesthetic looks both vintage and luxurious without ever feeling dated.

The brown option works great in any decor, since it’s so understated, but I do think the white Marshall Stanmore is the better choice for a brown aesthetic room. That pop of offwhite and the contrast it has will draw your eye way more often – and remind you to put on your Spotify playlist for some ambiance tunes.

A PC case to go with the brown aesthetic

Personally I’m all about white PCs and appliances and so on (they don’t call them white goods for nothing) but they can look sterile and cold sometimes.

One quick and functional solution?

Add a brown aesthetic touch to your PC case by using a premium Noctua cooler – there’s a reason why they’re so famous! Brown Noctua coolers are some of the most sought after PC components because they’re both beautiful and incredibly quiet.

Case in point: this gorgeous white PC build with brown Noctua coolers from LinusTechTips’ forum

My own PC has been relying on Noctua coolers for the past 7 years and you’d be surprised at how many guests commented on it and asked to know where it’s from.

Yes, you can get cheaper CPU coolers but I for one am satisfied with this purchase (7 plus years and still works great!).

Turn any surface into a speaker and keep the brown aesthetic spotless

Love a calming, natural brown aesthetic with little tech on display? Then this little gadget is for you.

With the Anything Speaker you can literally turn any surface into an actual large bluetooth speaker. Thanks to some witchcraft (bone conduction technology), this tiny 1.5-inch speaker can transform a painting, a door, even a wall into a sound-emitting device. If you connect two speakers together, you can have amazing 3D stereo sound on a budget.

The best part? Each surface generates its own sound, so if you move the Anything Speakers around, your favorite tune will sound unique every time. Plus, it’s so small it’s easy to hide so you don’t impact your carefully-curated room.

Brown aesthetic keyboards

Another great way to integrate your tech into a brown aesthetic room is to choose a keyboard that’s not the regular black or white (or the RGB madness of gaming keyboards!).

This combo of a tan keyboard with rounded caps and a minimalist beige mouse is super budget-friendly but gorgeous. It will make a huge impact on your desk but none on your credit card. Love a good deal like that!

However, if you’re out there typing all day, do consider investing in a mechanical keyboard, they will make your work life so much easier. My colleague put together some super in-depth guides on cheap mechanical keyboards, where to get switches and so on, but here I’ll only recommend one option.

Check out this beautiful mechanical keyboard with brown and tan keycaps (lava brown color scheme). The rounded edges feel incredibly smooth and, if you ever get bored of the color scheme, you can just add custom keycaps as you please.

RoyalAxe Protoarc brown and tan keyboard

Being able to connect to five different devices and available in multiple sizes (from 68 keys to the full 106), the RoyalAxe Protoarc can reduce a lot of clutter in your home.

Luxurious leather mouse pad to complete the look

Pair either of those keyboards with this beautiful leather mouse pad and your desk will not only have a gorgeous brown aesthetic but some serious comfort as well.

Looking at it, you’d definitely think it cost 10 times what it goes for!

Most leather mousepads are made of low quality leather or even reconstituted leather (a mix of leather shavings and glue). This beauty from Otto has the natural leather grain on display, which means it should age beautifully.

The wrist rest is an added bonus those with carpal tunnel syndrome will definitely appreciate.

Brown gel seat cushion for comfort

And last but not least, if you’re serious about comfort don’t sleep on memory foam seat cushions. These popular office accessories are essential for the health of your spine during long-office hours. Usually, they’re also, well, butt-ugly.

Fortunately, I was able to find this brown gel seat cushion set that won’t look like something out of Fast&Furious movie but blend beautifully with any decor. Use one cushion for your office chair and the rest to add luxurious leather touches to the rest of your room.

The best lights for a beautiful brown aesthetic

One of the best ways to add style to a place is to add smart lighting but that can break the budget.  Why are lamps so expensive?

In our next guide we’ll include some cheap and beautiful lamps that go with a brown aesthetic AND provide functionality, from wireless charging to convenient hidden charging ports and speakers to set the mood. Stay tuned!
