The new smartphone from HTC, U11 Plus, brings to the table exactly what you’d expect from a Plus version: bigger display, bigger battery and slimmer bezels, while keeping aboard the features that made its predecessor so appealing #mobilemagic
The squeezable body is still there, as well as the premium specs. But before we tell you more about the hardware, let’s dive into the updates brought to the smartphone’s body. With this phone, HTC has upped the screen size from 5.5 inches to 6 inches, shrinking the bezels significantly so that you’ll get the feeling of an 18:9 aspect ratio with an 82% screen-to-body ratio.
The new design means one thing: the fingerprint sensor was shoved to the back of the device, instead of sitting comfortably on the front. The speakers are much louder this time and Edge Sense is now treated as a remappable button for any app. Under the hood, there’s the same top-notch processor as the one in U11 (Snapdragon 835), the same camera module but a bigger battery and better water and dust-resistance.
HTC added a 3,930mAh cell, two RAM and storage options and an IP68 rating. With a squeeze, you can trigger both Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa and also open a radial menu that shows your apps.
With so much goodies aboard, there has to be a catch, right? Well, sort of. See, the smartphone won’t sell in U.S., just in Europe and Asia. There will be a semi-translucent option available to buy at some point if “ceramic black” is too boring for you. The 6GB and 128GB of storage will sell for €799, but there’s a cheaper model too with just 4GB of RAM and 64Gb of storage.
