Leaked Vivo X23 Specs Reveal 3D Facial Recognition and Water-drop Notch

A Weibo post reveals the existence of Vivo X23, one of the latest devices from the sister-brand of Oppo. Just like Oppo’s newly unveiled Oppo F9, the Vivo X23 will reportedly come with a more discrete, water-drop notch on its 6.4-inch display.

According to the leakster, this display and the new 3D facial recognition unveiled by Vivo (the TOF depth 3D Camera) will be the main selling points of the Vivo X23. The TOS in “TOF 3D Sensing Technology” stands for Time of Flight. Essentially, it detects the time it takes for pulse light to come back to the sensor and can map objects up to three meters away, capturing highly accurate three-dimensional details with 300,000 sensor points.

However, the source also noted the existence of an in-display fingerprint scanner so that’s nothing to sniff at either.

The rest of the leaked Vivo X23 specs point to a Snapdragon 670 SoC alongside 8 GB of RAM. As for the launch date, that could be much sooner than expected, as the leakster noted an August 20 release for Vivo X23. If that comes true, we’ll likely be able to play with the device at IFA 2018 at the end of the month.
