What’s a technology exhibition without unconventional robots? IFA had its share too and the Somnox Sleep Robot is definitely one of them.
Dutch start-up company Somnox introduced its bean-shaped robot during the exhibition claiming it “works by using cognitive and simulated human breathing techniques to accelerate the process of falling asleep”.

Obviously, the robot’s goal is to help you fall asleep and also have a good sleep. It comes with a custom app for both Android and iOS which allow you to play music, your own recorded files or ambient sounds directly from the robot, which, supposedly, you will be hugging to sleep. Once you are asleep, the Somnox Sleep Robot will detect that via the sensors embedded in it and switch off by itself.

The robot is available for pre-order via their website’s shop and will deliver in October 2018 and, come November, it will also be available via other retail channels. Holding the Smonox robot does not come cheap though, with a price tag that will take 549 Euros (approx. $634) out of your pocket.
Do you think the price for hugging the sleep-inducing robot bean is worth it or not?
