According to some Apple users who have purchased the new Apple flagship phones, the iPhone XS and the XS Max, the devices are not charging when plugged in via the Lightning cab
Some users are reporting that the iPhone XS sometimes will start to charge after an Apple-made cable has been reinserted, while others say that the device will start charging only if the phone is awakened by tapping the screen.
The problem might be a software bug and generally seems to require the phone to be either unlocked or have the screen lit up in order to begin charging. But the problem is not universal: some of the XS and XS Max iPhones have no issues charging up as soon as they are being plugged in while others either need the tap to awaken or just downright freeze completely.
Some users have upgraded to the iOS 12.1 beta, which has, apparently, eliminated the problem, but not everyone has access to it at the present time.
Apple has not yet made any official statement concerning the issue.
