Had enough of Pokemon Go? Follow JC Go! is the Catholic version that lets you collect saints.
You’d think that after more than two years of Pokemon Go, this type of AR games frenzy would die down a bit, but the Catholics disagree. Check out JC Go!, a Pokemon Go clone created by Fundación Ramón Pané, a Catholic evangelical group. According to the BBC, the game, created in preparation for World Youth Day 2019 in Panama, has even the Pope’s blessing.
“You know, Francis is not a very technological person, but he was in awe, he understood the idea, what we were trying to do: combine technology with evangelization,” Ricardo Grzona, executive director of Fundación Ramón Pané, said in a statement to Catholic site Crux Now.
Instead of capturing Pokemon, you’ll be coming across saints who will test you using religious quizzes. Of course, you can also collect virtual water, food and “spirituality” for their in-game health, as the BBC explains. Furthermore, players can also donate to charity directly through the app.
JC Go! is already available on Android and iOS in Spanish, with English, Italian and Portuguese options coming soon.
