A new feature has been added to Pokemon Go which allows players to unlock rewards without having to keep the app open or to use the tracking dongle.
The feature is called Adventure Sync and it will use Apple Health and Google Fit data to reward the players for the distance traveled in real world by hatching eggs and earning candy.
The game has already received praise since it was launched because it engages the players and encourages them to be more active and go outside in order to find the Pokemon they want.
Now, with the Adventure Sync feature, the player won’t even need to open the Pokemon Go app – they can simply go walk their dog and not even bring their phone along, just their Apple Watch or Android Wear wearable. The data is automatically synced back to the phone and is ready to be processed by the Pokemon go app when it launches next.
The activity data sharing feature is optional and it’s already being rolled out to players that have at least a level 35 or higher in the game. The feature will expand to lower level players but will not be available to anyone below level 5.
